  1. Hit into them, send them a message!!! LOL

  2. Find a course that uses marshals.

  3. I avoid the issue by being the first out on the course. During the summer, I'm generally on the first tee at dawn. I also play twilight midweek.

  4. do not hit into them.  just deal. stretch, take practice swings and most of all don't get mad. just relax. take your ipod and a gatorade. DO NOT make the excuse to yourself that it takes you off your rhythm because then it will. if the starter is good, he will tell the people to let you play through.  or ask politely if you can play through

  5. There are too many golf courses around, too many associations you can join to put up with this.  I play in the afternoons when it is slower and I'll call ahead to see if there is a line or tournament that is slowing things up.  Play more expensive courses where the cost keeps people away.  I personally play a cheaper course that isn't in such good shape....which keeps the people away.  I also drive around people and skip a hole if you have an inconsiderate (one weekend the high school golfers were playing two and three balls apiece..I called the marshall and they behaved for a moment then went back again.  ) or a foursome with struggling golfers.

  6. Write hurry up on a golf ball and hit it at them....works everytime

  7. My usual course has been notorious for slow play. I usually just deal with it. However, there are courses out there where the rangers are pretty strict about the pace of play and they will tell players to pick it up. Find the course that best suites your speed of play.

It is never a good idea to hit into the group ahead of you, regardless of there pace. You are only asking for trouble if you do.

  8. like another answerer said, be the first.  I golf early in the morning, or later at night.  Also, i like golfing mid-week, because fri, sat, sund, tend to get hectic.  Good luck

  9. Try to kill time doing something positive.  On approach shots make sure you have exact yardage, pace it off to the closest sprinkler head, check the wind, look at  your yardage book get the depth of the green, then the pin position and calculate the exact yardage to the flag etc.  You might not be able to hit it that accurately, but you are doing something positive to know the perfect shot would carry 151 1/2 yards.  Pull your club and take a few practice swings.  Take some time to line up the shot.  All this stuff might not really help you that much, but it beats standing there steaming because the group in front is so slow.  Try to use the extra time to your benefit instead of the opposite.  Visualize your shot, it's trajectory, landing point and where it will stop.  Consider the slope of the green and where you want to leave your shot to allow for the easiest putt etc.  This may be overanalyzing each shot, but it will keep you focused on what you are trying to do as opposed to telling jokes with your caddy or other players which will take you out of focus and then you have to get back in when it's time to finally hit the shot.

  10. I have never played a six hour round and I live in Florida(OLD PEOPLE). If the group in front will not let you play through, ask them politely. If they refuse, call the clubhouse and a ranger will almost surely get on their ***. If your rounds are really taking 6-7 hours then you need to choose a different course.

  11. Carts only.

  12. If you are talking about a men's event or something where you don't have control over your tee time, you just have to live with it. Talking about something other than golf, like sports, or whatever is a good way to keep your mind off of the wait time. Also, lay off the coffee or pop.

  13. play with someone that you enjoy talking too, or bring a book in your bag.
