Question:

How to decorate a dull, ugly room?

My room has pale pink walls that are covered in my toddler handwriting or my friends' graffiti. I don't have much on my walls, and nothing that's really eye-catching or fun. Basically my room is the complete opposite of me - HELP!

  1. Then you mean your a fun looking person and want a fun looking room? Why don't you paint your dull walls with fun colors like navy blue, engine red, fruity orange, lemon yellow, apple green and the like?

Or if you have an artistic side that you want to show off, you could paint one of the wall with a big fun abstract picture. In that way there would be no need for all those cluttering pictures that would just ask you to dust them every now and then.

Who says the fun just stays on the walls? There is the curtain, the rugs on the floors, the floor itself, the lighting fixtures, etc. But, of course, don't over do it.

Don't forget, there should be a focal point, the most fun part of the room, and the other elements should help focus the attention to it. Don't forget or everything would be clamoring for attention.

  2. You should paint 3 walls your fav color and 1 wall in chalk board paint. Then on one wall put stuff that reflects you like pics or objects. If you don't have a lot of money you can check out yard sales for stuff to decorate with.

  3. www.RockYourWall.com has a lot of cool things like PBTeen for way less money. Magnetic dry erase tiles in any color you can think of, cork tiles, accessories, and so much more to create a custom, cool  and functional style tile bulletin board!

  4. Paint and posters! Go to the paint store and look at some borders and wall papers just to give you an idea of what you might like colorwise. If you like a border use it near the ceiling and pull a color from it to paint your room. You could also use the border around the middle of your room at 36" at chair rail height. Paint the top half one color (lighter) and bottom another color (darker). Go to Posters.com or allposters.com or art.com to get some artwork. Go to flor.com. They have 18" X 18" carpet squares in different colors, patterns, and textures. You can mix and match and make a cool rug.

  5. spray paint it.

  7. start with a good washing. then go to some nice paint , choose a colour you love .. add three things you would not want to live without. add a comfy couch and then sit back and slowly add things which catch your eye, for either beauty or uniqueness. if it takes more than about 45 minutes to dust and tidy you have overdone it

  8. Well You Can Always Paint And Buy New Furniture To Make It Look Better That Is What I Did And I Looks A Lot Better.

  9. I would start with a bright color of paint as it is the cheapest and easiest way to change the look of your room.  A tropical theme would be fun.  Maybe you can get some inspiration here:
