How to decorate a men's living room, working with light gray carpet and blue sofas

Question

i've just returned home from college to find my house looking more like the inside of a fraternity house, particularly the living room. my mother passed away and it is now just my brother and dad living together and they haven't got a clue about decorating. i need help fixing up the living room that literally only has two blue sofas, a small tv stand (w/ the tv) and gray carpet. not much to work with so any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Keep it simple. That's also a good color combination. Try putting some cream or very light color throw pillows to diffuse the dark hue of blues and grays. A good potted yucca indoor plant in a corner or edge of sofas would make a statement. Enjoy playing it around.

There's lots of things I could suggest, I don't know the layout tho, or what u have room for. Will u be buying new items?

I'm sorry to hear about your mother, Tiffany.

Since you are talking about guys, you may want to look at dark wood and leather things. The nice thing about the grey carpet is that it's safely neutral, so it won't clash.

You'll want to do something about the T.V. stand. If you have other entertainment systems, get an armoir to help organize them. If not, a more solid table perhaps with a few ornaments and pictures is more suitable.

You will also want to get a coffee table and a few side tables so you can have your coffee, or whatever.

I don't know what the walls look like, so I can't offer any ideas there.

Well I know when I get older im gonna keep my pad plain & simple..I personally like it like that
