How to decorate my apartment and add a feminine touch to it?

Hello....we are moving to small apartment about 800 sq ft. floor to ceiling windows, harwood floors, small fireplace, not much room for a bif dining area..I think we'll have a couch in front of the fireplace next to the entertainment unit...my bf wants mostly dark furniture.. and I dont mind but I was wondering how can I make the place feel more cozy and feminine and also very clean looking. also any ideas for the entrance...colors, plants, mirrows?

Chocolate brown for the funiture is about as dark as I'd go, in a nice chenille fabric. Pick a "style" you both like, contemporary, southwest etc. (Don't let your bf dictate much. Most men don't have a clue about decorating. Be careful or you'll wind up living in a man cave!) An area rug will help define the living space. A tall plant to complement the windows is good. And sheer curtains with a slightly heavier silk curtain in front is also good. Keep the colors light and bright. But a dark colored accent wall (of the fireplace?) would be great and give the room a bit of a WOW factor.
