What are some cheap and cool ways to decorate a single occupant dorm room?

I used the W magazine and tore out full pictures posted them on black poster board and added a frame using the poster board making pictures for the bare walls

Also, you could get some sheer fabric to drape on your bed for privacy

i have read stories where people have made furniture out of milk crates, even shipping palettes can be torn apart to make furniture. I remember hearing a story of a person who cut and glued cardboard boxes together to form cheap and inexpensive furniture but don't really have any first hand experience with this.
