  1. You may be having a virus or spyware installed on your PC. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

  2. Since you didn't tell us what program you are using that told you of your infection with amvo.exe, we can't give exact directions.  However, when some programs are being stubborn and don't remove easily, there is one tip for you to try.

Occasionally you will not be able to run your anti-virus/anti-spyware programs without being in SAFE MODE.  To get there, reboot your computer and tap the F8 key, repeatedly until a menu comes up.  You want to choose SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING.

Now update your anti-malware programs and run a scan (one at a time).  That should get rid of it for you.

    HTH!

  3. Open command prompt and issue following commands:

    CD\Windows

    attrib -s -h -r amvo*.*

    del amvo*.*

    and restart windows.

Further if you are using Avast you can schedule boot time scan which is very powerful utility for removing viruses though it may not repair damages done to policies or registry. If scheduling fails use "sched.exe", installed with the software, from command line to schedule.

  4. I had the same problem.I installed Kaspersky antivirus.problem solved.

  5. using a good anti virus such as Nortan, mcafee etc

  6. How to get rid off?

    Step 1

The usual way is to Format the system, but it is not a permanent solution. To get rid run regedit, find all keys related to amvo.exe or the name of the virus.

Run msconfig in the Start Up Tab you can find the amvo.exe or its variants.

Remove all occurrence of the name from regedit.

    Reboot the System.

    Step 2

Reboot and do the following changes to the Registry using regedit

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\W... searchidden en 1HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wi... searchsystemdirs en 1HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wi... hidden en 1HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wi... showsuperhiden en 1HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wi... superhiden en 1HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\W... CheckedValue 1HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\W... DefaultValue 1HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\W... CheckedValue 1HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\W... DefaultValue 1HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wi... NoDriveTypeAutoRun 0x00000091 (145)

    -- OR --

Reboot into a different OS and do the following

    Step 3

From all the drives delete the autorun.inf using command line (if on windows) or from a linux OS. Do not open the drive from the explorer as it would spread the virus again to this OS. If you have linux installed and can access all partitions on the disk, go delete the files and clear the trash on all drives.

    Step 4

    Reboot the system.

Do necessary changes as in Step 2, if you have not done those.

I hope that will do it

Install a good antivirus update it.

    Prevent Autorun from USBs.

To disable Autoplay of all drives

    Start > Run > gpedit.msc

Enable : Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Turn Off Autoplay
