  1. Deleting images only changes the file name. The image data is still there. At some point, the information you "deleted" will be overwritten, but you don't know when. You would need to do a wipe-disk (scrubbing) operation to be sure that the data is truly removed. Any curious person could do a low-level recovery of the data on your memory card and recover deleted items. Formatting the card doesn't guarantee deletion of data or images. There are free programs out there that will scrub the unused space on your memory card.

Much easier process, you can fill the card up with pictures or other data. That will overwrite the "deleted" data.

  2. If you delete the pictures and format the card in the camera then take pictures on the card again, you should be safe from anyone seeing your naughty pictures.

  3. Hello there.  Memory cards have a memory,  but not the way you are worried about.   The cards can be used over and over again and store the pictures that the camera is taking as it takes them but if you delete the pictures from the camera's delete button, the memory card will be clean and ready to take new pictures and as someone suggested,  you can go into the menu of the camera and use the "select the FORMAT your card option"  which will wipe out all picture information and leave the memory card clean and ready to record new pictures again.   Old pictures are history, never to be seen by other human eyes.   :)

  4. Unless the pics are stored on the internal memory, they are stored on your memory card.

The camera processes an image, it doesn't store it.
