How to design Magazine Layout

Hey there, I need some answers to a question. I've been doing graphic design for sometime now and I just got a job designing a magazine from a template their supplying me for Indesign. I've used indesign before and have a good grasp on how the program works. However, the magazine is going to be 32 pages cover to back. I want to know how do I lay the thing out so when its put together everything is in the right order? When I make a master page and spreads its the master page and than the spreads say 1-2, 3-4, etc. I want to know how do I layout the spreads all together or do spreads share different pages on one side and the other. Since there is 17 sheets, but 32 pages, do I create seperate spreads for the back, so there would be a total of 15 spreads? Someone please give me some advice or reference material on how magazines go together. Thanks.
