For anyone who is a manager, senior, "boss"...etc -

what are some things you have to consider before giving your employee/ juniors a raise? Do you give them a raise base on their overall performance within the company? attendence? workloads? etc...

If you are a manager (or who ever determine if an employee deserve a raise or not), what to you look for before giving the raise?

  1. Most importantly, you should determine how valuable they are to the company.  If they can go somewhere else and get more money they will.  You can download information for employee performance reviews fromt the internet.

  2. most companies give annual raises averaging 4% - you can give more or less depending on if you think they did a good job - their duties, responsibilities and annual goals should be clear to them and you so you can both fairly evaluate how the employee did over the last year

  3. you should decide based on all of those things

  4. I am a manager at a small McDonald's. When looking to give a raise, the person's work ethic, ability, and team skills all come into question. The period, however, is also used to create a list of things to work on, and those things will determine the raise on the next review. It will all be comprehensive of what you have done for your company, and that will determine what they do back for you.
