I need to relocate a faucet at an outside shed. the pipe will have to turn the corner of the shed so i will need elbow joints. the pipe measures three quater inch inside diameter, what size joints do I need to reconnect the pipe after cutting it. I ordered three quarter inch joints and they don't fit. do i need the joints to be the outside diameter of the pipe?

I'm a sixty five year old widow, not a fresh out of high School youngster. but I love to "do it myself"

  1. If it is regular schedule 40 PVC piping, the "size" is the inside diameter of the pipe, so I am not sure where you went wrong, unless you were mixing pipes of different type/schedules.

  2. pipe is always made by outside diameter.  1/2" pipe has an OD of .84 inches, 3/4 pipe has an OD of 1.050, 2" is 2.375.
