  1. Storage life of agriculture grains vary greatly depending on the conditions they are stored.  Using corn (maize) for example: If stored at 13% moisture and 40 degrees F (about the temperature of refrigeration) corn can be stored safely for up to 10 years.  At 70 to 80 degrees storage life drops to 2 to 4 years at 13% moisture.  It will need to be aerated , or have air blown through from time to time as well.  This pattern of storage holds pretty much for all of the grains.  Oil seeds such as soybeans and cotton seed have to be dried to a lower percentage moisture to store initially, then the pattern is similar to the grains, but generally they can be stored for shorter periods of time due to the high oil content which tend to get rancid over time.  Storage at higher than recommended  moisture will greatly reduce the storage of either grains or oil seeds.
