Question:

How to develop my own style of singing?

How I can stop drawing a little TOO much inspiration from some of my favorite artists and really develop my own style of singing? It's not that I'm imitating them, I've been taking voice lessons for over six years, and I'm about to go work on my demo. I'm only fourteen, understandably my voice isn't 100% yet; I just want to be really secure with my singing before I enter the studio. Any advice?

  1. keep on asking ques...  let ur heart find its own way

  2. Pick a song you haven't heard before, get the sheet music and learn it. Seriously, you can't imitate anyone in a song that you haven't heard before :( Even if you have been getting voice lessons since you were 8, it doesn't mean your voice isn't going to change. You should wait a while until you are older, because the emotional pressure on a 14 year old for a music career can really s***w around with your head.

Wait a couple of years and work on songs you haven't heard before
