I'm in a short film and I need to die believably.

Any tips?

Any suggestions for movies that I watch that have particularly believable death scenes?

  1. as you're dying, feel the muscles in your face.  Make a tiny grimace so that your face muscles are actively holding a pose.

At the moment of your death, let your muscles go, so the face goes visibly into repose. The audience will see that.

Close your eyes first, then let the muscles relax.

Thats how we professionals do it.

(By the way, its more effective, but considerably harder to die with your eyes open)

  2. Quit Breathing  xox

  3. just pretend that your dying. think of it as a realistic situation

  4. I always thought the way Marlon Brando played his death scene in The Godfather was really effective. He's playing with his grandson in the garden, and he just...dies. It's very straightforwardly filmed, and I don't think he even says anything, but it's quite moving.

  5. I like the muscles relaxing answer.

Anything you lack with the dying skills can be made up in editing!
