Question:

How to disable a computer game?

Basically my son plays World of Warcraft all the time and won't listen when I tell him to stop playing...he's a good kid and I feel bad to uninstall it. What I need is a way to sort of block/disable it from running...without uninstalling it so that he thinks that there's a problem with the computer that won't let run it...but doesn't think someone else has caused it. however please don't suggest anything that will harm the normal functioning of the computer itself. Many thanks, i will personally vote for the best answer + 5 star.

  1. I don't play wow myself but i think that you should try and find a parental control on the pc and restrict the playing to dates and times.

  2. there is software available that will limit the amount of computer usage time.  try googling "parental time limit on internet access"

and, don't take this personally but while your son is sitting around playing wow, what are you doing?  Watching TV?  How about spending some time outside with him playing catch or basketball or working on an old car, building some wood furniture or...anything else that lets you spend some quality time with him (and away from the 'puter).

  3. try a program like ProcessLasso which can be set to controll each app as it runs.

    Great little Free program

  4. I think if you log on your account and edit the settings so you can only run it as the administrator.

  5. Sell the computer.  That basically will let him know that you are the parent and he is the child.

Since he won't obey you, you don't hold enough power in the relationship to do anything about WoW.  Thus, you must sell the computer and be done with the struggle.
