Engine cuts out at 90 mph when the high speed limiter kicks in. Want to be able to disable the high speed limiter. I have a Jet stage 2 chip, that I thought would do the trick, but it didn't. The jeep accelerates quickly up to 90 mph while still in 5th gear, and engine cuts out before I can shift into 6th. It has alot more acceleration left, but is limited to 90 mph.

  1. Are you sure it's not the Rev limiter? I dont think there is any Speed limiter in any Jeep. My Rubi has a RPM limiter. It also is a manual trans. The Rev limiter kicks in at red line. Watch your tack. You shouldn't over rev your RPM's, less you are willing to damage your I6.

If you still wish to reduce the time it takes to speed up, lift it, and put bigger tires on it. That will do it if you keep the 4.10:1 stock gears.

Keep in mind, the I6 is made for low end tork, and not speed. These baby's have a lot of snork in the low end. That's how they're designed.

  2. You have to play around with the car computer.

Now they have speed limits on new cars so people dont go fast.

  3. What I would like to know is why would you want to go that fast in a Wrangler?I'm sorry but that is just too fast in a Wrangler.
