  1. If you have to ask you need a pro to do it for you its not an easy job

  2. It really depends on the type of pool table.  I just disassembled an 8 foot Kasson table and reassembled last weekend.  Here is how I did mine:

I first unbolted the railings from the underside of the table.  Mine had 6 rail pieces with 3 bolts each (18 bolts).  If it has leather hanging pockets you would need to unscrew the pockets from the frame.  You can then lift the railing in one piece off the frame and slate.  If you flip over the railing piece you can further disassemble the pockets from the railing but loosening 12 more bolts.

After removing the railing you will have to remove the cloth/felt cover.  It will either be stapled, or glued with adhesive.  Mine was glued around the slate and stapled under the pocket areas.  I used a razor blade to cut around the stapled pocket cloth (to remove the staples later) and then pulled the felt off the slate.

The slate on my table was in 3 pieces and screwed directly onto the frame.  I unscrewed the slate and lifted each with some friends (The slate is VERY heavy and can chip if you knock into stuff.  Get lots of helping moving the slate and for heavens sake…be careful…each piece can weight up to 200lbs).

When the frame was exposed I just unbolted the legs from the inside (8 bolts).  This left me with 4 legs, the 8 x 4 frame, 3 slate pieces, 6 leather pockets, 6 rails, and the hardware.

I suggest reassembling in reverse order.  Make sure the frame and legs are level, then put the slate back on and level that.  You will need to refelt the table, or have a professional do it all for around $200 to $400.

    Hope that helps.
