I'm looking for detailed procedure for disposing NO (Nitric Oxide) cylinder. Actually we are importing these cylinders from a company in another country so far (since its not available here) and had been shipping it back to the same company for disposal. Due to the cost involved, we are looking for ways to dispose it by ourselves. Kindly provide details on neutralization of Nitric Oxide and procedure for disposal of cylinder.

  1. There is no danger involved with reusing the cylinders.  The cylinders are expensive, and can be re-used in many cases.

  2. I have provided you here a link which you can follow

However, you may want to ask your supplier to provide you with a disposal procedure.  This type of gas is very simple to disposed of, by venting it in an open air.  When properly vented, the cylinder are no longer considered hazardous and can be re-filled or can be sold to scrap metal for recycling.  Your supplier is raking in a lot of profit.  They re-use this cylinders.  Why not just ask them to pay for the handling and transport cost of the cylinder.
