How to dispose batteries properly

In some areas (my hometown, for instance), you can put small alkaline in a small plastic bags in the recycling bin.  For large batteries (like car batteries), you would need to take them to the city recycling center.  I would check with your city on the garbage disposal policy.

I am pretty sure you can drop them off at Target if you live by them. My dad always tells me to dispose of them at Target. I work at a hospital and we have many buckets full of dead batteries. Otherwise, try the police station...I think that is another place you can take them.
