How to dispose electronic items?

Question

I have a broken microwave that I need to get rid of. How should I dispose it? if I bring it to the garbage disposal facility, how much will I have to pay? and also, do they charge by per item or by loads? I really need to know. I have to be out of my old place by tomorrow. Your answers will be much appreciated!!

if you bring it to a recycling plant they wont charge you at all or if you plan on replacing it alot of places that sell appliances will take it of your hands to recycle it if you buy a new one there
