Question:

How to dispose of tampons?

I live with my boyfriend and our best friends (guy and his girlfriend).

We share a bathroom and I was wondering how I should dispose of my tampons.

I know I shouldn't flush them, but also wrapping them in toilet paper and throwing them in the trashcan in the bathroom seems unsafe. Because every time I do that, after a few hours it starts to leak through the toilet paper.

Maybe if I had a trash can in my room and just put them in there would be better, but to do that in front of my boyfriend seems like it would be embarrassing.

  1. hello there.

    my name is Dr.J.Smith.

    i am here to help.

here is a easy and simple way to dispose tampons...

    eat them.

    (:

    good luck.

    they taste like cupcakes.

  2. you can flush them!

  3. wrap it alot in toilet paper or put it in your trash can ,your own, with the toilet paper and at the end of the day or  when everyone is out of the house, go to a larger or pubic trash can and throw it away.

besides if your boyfriend DOES mind, then tell him to suck it up :). if you have a problem still, talk to the other girl and see what she does

  4. i just flush the tampon down the toliet

  5. Get some sandwich bags and put them in those so they won't leak.

It's just a fact of life, nobody should be embarrassed about it.

And from someone who has had to clean out the sewer line - don't flush them, they get caught up in any roots in the line and don't biodegrade very quickly like toilet paper.

  6. You can get flushable tampons. And why not get a bin with a lid. Also if your boyfriend really cared about you, he wouldn't mind because he would understand.

  7. Maybe, take a plastic shopping bag in the bathroom and hide it under the sink and tie it and at the end of the day take that bag out to the trash??

  8. Regardless of what many people are answering, you do not flush tampons because the point of the tampon is too absorb blood. So in the toilet water, what does it do? Absorb! That means that it can clog the drain and pipes, even if it goes down and is out of your sight.

As far as throwing away tampons go, even though one person mentioned putting them in bags, that means a lot of time for a simple action, and a lot of money spent on bags! Get a plastic grocery bag, or trash bag made for smaller trash cans. If you use a liner like this, the toilet paper-wrapped tampon won't leak into the trash can, only onto the bag (and it will blend in with other tissues in the trashcan)! This also makes taking out the trash easier, as you just pick up the handles of the bag, tie it shut, and throw it away!

  9. Wrap it in alot of papertowels...... or toilet paper whatever

  10. I'm sorry but a few people saying you can flush them is just wrong, its a danger to the environment to do that and it can also clog your toilet!

I do understand how you are feeling regarding this as I was in the same predicament recently. What I would recommend is keeping a little bin and some small paper bags in the bathroom. Wrap your tampon in the paper and put it in the bag then in the bin. Just make sure you empty the bin daily.

Less embarrassment for everyone involved and stops the problems you have come across in the past.

  11. throw it out the window when your driving

  12. Flush the used tampon and wrap applicator in toilet paper and put in trash its disgusting when women throw pads and applicators away without wrapping.

  13. The people in here who just commented are idiots. You ARE right. You cannot flush tampons, unless you want to clog your boyfriends toilet. THAT would be embarrasing. The best thing to do is to get a trash can with a cover on it. Or, rather than wrap them with toilet paper, put them inside the wrapper of the next tampon you're using.

  14. Heya

You can flush them , you can even flush the cardboard applicator.its pads you cant flush.

    =] x*x

  15. Don't flush them, if you clog the toilet thats going to be even more embarrassing. I wrap mine in toilet paper, shove it back in the wrapper of the new one I'm using, throw it away, and then put a big wad of toilet paper over the used one  in the garbage can. No one will even know its there

  16. i heard that you could flush just the tampon down the toilet.

  17. Cut the bottom off of a black trash bag. Put them in there and put a twisty around the bag. Park it behind the toilet or somewhere nobody will see it.
