How to dispute Stream Energy charges in Tx?

I have a 1700sq ft house a/c set on 77 all the time and continue getting 450.00 energy bills. My neighbors are all running around 170.00 a month. Am I paying for the streetlights? How do I get my meter tested independently and dispute this?

  1. You need to call your TDSP on your own, however if the meter reading is correct, then there may be a charge.  Chances are, the problem with your bill has to do with the rates you are being charged.

Does it not occur to anyone who uses Stream Energy that one way or the other, it will always cost the customer more?  It's a multi-level marketing company geared towards revenue growth (the person who signed you up is making money off of you and everyone else he/she signs up- you pay your bill, they make money).  To do this, customers are lured in by perceived low rates that increase over time or suddenly depending on how the original contract was set up.   The trick? When these "low rate contracts" expire? Stream does not notify us and we get stuck month to month with outrageous rates.  By the time the problem is diagnosed by the consumer, we find ourselves in the hole and advised to lock in another rate which in turn will eventually expire and so the cycle repeats itself.

If you look online, there are several people in your shoes- one person reported a $1017.32 bill and had no recourse.  The best thing you can do? Switch switch switch AND report everything to the Public Utility Commission of Texas- they will investigate your claim along with the hundreds of others.  Although it won't change your $450.00 bill, they can be fined severely for what they are doing to so many unknowing consumers.

I switched the Green Mountain- VERY reasonable- no multi-level marketing-

I refuse to go broke making greedy people rich!  Get out while you can-

Hopefully this helps- questions? Let me know :)

  2. Sounds like you're paying for yourself and another persons house.
