How to dispute a charge....?

I bought a pair of jeans. I went with the bigger size because they were a little tight but i was still concerned about them stretching out. I wore them for around the house to see if they would still fit good after sitting down and what not. They got really loose so i decided to return them. The tags are still attached. When i took them back they said they looked worn and that the tag was in the wrong place. DUH.... i wore them around the house but as far as the tag goes i do not know what to say. What can i do? can i dispute the charge?

  1. try the manager idea, make sure you mention an exchange not just a refund...more likely to get what you want knowing they won't be loosing actual money...but technically the business would be covered because you are not allowed to wear the item AND then return it, even if it was "just around the house". if there is a way to put them in the drier that the tag wouldn't be damaged it might help the jeans look more normal due to the stretch factor that occurred...hope this helps

  2. well you should have tried to make the jeans look as unworn as possible.

but as for the tags, they "think" that the tags are in the wrong place. it might be a newbie employee's mistake. talk to the manager. i'm sure the manager will accept the return. it would be helpful if you had the original packaging.

hang on to the item for a few days so that the employee does not remember that you wanted a return (or go when that particular person is not there)

if not, it's judge judy time. the store is bound to honor the terms in the return policy (should be on the receipt). if they don't, they are breaking the sales contract. you can get your refund from a court easily.

if there was no signs of tampering with the tag, why would they think that you replaced the tag in the first place? you didn't touch the tag right (no rips or anything)?
