Question:

How to dissemble a valence and hang curtains close to ceiling?

My current windows have ugly valences above them. I would like to hang curtains higher, closer to the ceiling to make the room look taller. How do I get the valence off the wall? with a a hammer?

Also, I want to hang the curtains so they come from one point in the center and swoop out to the sides. I dont think a curtain rod is what I want? Are there smaller curtain rods? Or is there another way to hang?

  1. Ok, the valance may be attached with L brackets - have a look up under them to see if you can see brackets, or it may have been screwed or nailed on, which will require a crow bar, claw hammer or similar to pry off.

What you need for the hanging is tie backs I think, have a look at this link http://www.curtrax.com.au/hold-backs.htm

you can get straight out ones with a k**b or something at the end or the hook type, which for the centre one you need you would hang so the material drapes down from it.

Not expensive and easy to install, Good Luck!
