Dear Friends,

I need to seperate few nano meters thichness thin film from a sello tape. Because I am using sello tape for cleaving the thin film into nano meter thicness. Now the problem is seperating the thin film from the tape. I used alchahol and Acetone chemicals to dissolve the gleu from the tape, but unfortunately some residue is remaing near the thin film. Without affecting film I need to dissolve gleu completly. Do you have any sugestion for this problem?

Thanks in advance.

  1. What is your film made of? Graphene? Some metal?  If it is some polymer, you might need to be careful of dissolving the polymer.  I don't know of any good solvents to dissolve tape glue - it might be worthwhile to try a halogenated solvent - chloroform or chlorobenzene?  Did you try anything less polar than acetone/alcohol, for example hexane?

If your film is something inert, you could try oxidizing the glue off, but only as a last resort.  Try using a mixture of potassium permanganate and sulfuric acid (or use potassium dichromate instead of permanganate if you can deal with it safely - it is carcinogenic) - these will oxidize most organic compounds, and will remove the glue.  If your film is organic, it will be eaten as well...
