  1. sit on yous a_ss and watch it on tv

  2. try to save your energy for as long as possible.

start off slow, then try to get into 2nd place, then in the last 50m overtake them and win.

  3. okay...so just for an example say you wanted to run a 2:00 800..if you are in a race...dont get all jacked up when the gun goes off you want to really relax the first 200 meters...dont get caught up and got out in 27 or 28 caz then you are done...you wanna hit 30 at the 200...after 200 you just want to maintain that and come through the quarter in 59 or 60...no faster, no slower...after that just go...its just a 400 from there...try to start going faster once you hit the line...you will feel like you are flying...maybe going to fast but trust me you are going the same pace maybe even slower...dont worry about dying on that last lap if you dig deep you can find that last kick to the finish...good luck

  4. uh, run? move one leg infront of the other, really fast!

  5. They're are many ways you could run it. For example, Start of at a medium pace, see how quick the top group of runners are and stick with them, making a sprinting move near the end.

Or, you could just go flat out see if  the group can keep up

  6. I hear that your first lap is supposed to be faster than your second. Your first one should be pretty fast, and the second lap is all guts. Give it whatever you've got left in that lap, especially in the last 50-200 meters.

I personally have my 800M end up somewhat like that. My first lap is always faster than my second. On the gunshot, I take a hard start, a near sprint. I then slow down somewhat and kind of speed up a little bit, speeding up little by little for the first lap. I never really know what I do in the second lap, but it always ends up being slower than the first. I try and pick up the pace after I finish the first lap, and then I work to finish that second lap as quickly as I can. Normally it's my instincts that tell me what I should do. However, I never really had extreme competition in the 800M during track season. Sometimes a guy tried to beat me, he had a minor lead in the first lap, but I overcame him in the second.

  7. I know......

    Run!

  8. The 800m is one of the most difficult (and painful) races in track and field.  It requires both speed and endurance.  I used to run the 800m indoors, and I usually ran the race in about four different segments.

    1.  Since there are usually a lot of runners in these races, it is important to get into a good position right from the start.  I always started out about 85% for the first 300m or so.

    2.  Once you are settled in at the 300m mark, try to concentrate on relaxing for the next 200-300m and try to stay where you are at.

    3.  The next 100m, begin to pick up the pace and maintain your form.  This is key because by this time, you are probably breathing hard and your legs are really starting to hurt.  This should take you right to the final straightaway.

    4.  Give it all you got in the last 100m.  Again, maintaining your form is important down the stretch; relax your arms and focus on the finish line!!

Most importantly, try to overcome the urge to go out with all of the rabbits in the race!  You know, those guys who sprint the first lap and can barely finish the race.....it is very tempting to go out with the pack, but from my experience, if you stick to your own game plan and worry about what you are doing, you will be passing those guys on that 2nd lap!  When you finish the race, ideally, you want your first and second lap times to be relatively close to each other.

  9. I think I know why you ask the question. Are you a distance runner? I was asking the same question during the track season, people who I usually beat at the mile and 2 mile were beating me at the 800. Like every distance race ever, you want consistent splits. I also know that the last 300 meters of the 800 is when the really good people get going. You need to feel like you are going faster the second lap(which actually will just keep you at the same pace as the whole race or a little faster)
