How to do a bangback / death save in pinball?

When the ball goes down the outlane, I know you hold up the flipper on the side of the machine corresponding to the outlane. Then, you nudge. But, where? On the bottom of the machine, on the coin box, and in which direction do you exert your force?

  1. I don't know whose calling it the Bangback but I do know that if you're talking about preventing the ball from going down the out lane it's best to nudge the machine lightly in the direction of the lane. If the ball is going toward the left out lane you nudge toward the left carefully. Just lightly tap the right corner of the machine and hopefully you bounce away from the lane.

A Bangback is something you'd use to prevent a head on drain. This is ill advised unless you have quick reflexes.

DO NOT ATTEMT THE OUT LANE DEATH SAVE!  This is for advanced play only
