How to do a heavy metal scream?

hey omg this is sooo rando but in songs like given up-linkin park and othe LP songs they do this scream!! and it mite sound weird! but how would you scream like that? or is it special FX?

L.P. is not heavy metal. It's rapcore. If you want a heavy metal scream listen to Dimmu Borgir or Cannibal Corpse.

However it takes tons work to do a heavy metal scream right because you can scrap your vocal cords if you don't do it right. L.P. probably does it with effects but the guys from D.B. are really good at it and don't use effects. Sticking your tongue out while screaming take some of the pain away. But if you want a Grind-core Growl (As opposed to a Heavy metal scream) you need to use something called a pitch changer which lowers your voice to hit some crazy low notes unless you're a tenor, baritone or lower (Does it go any lower???).
