  1. all i know is its really hard you got get you balance perfectly right over you hand and its really hard

  2. ya4it gave some good tips. Keep in mind that photos of handplants capture them at the apex but they're not actually one-handed handstands, it's more of a fluid motion and at best you'll get a split second stall a the top.

also to elaborate a bit to what ya4it said, no matter whether you are regular or goofy footed you'll still want to find a front-side hip. What a front side hip actually looks like changes based on your stance, not the actual hip, so what's frontisde to a regular footer is backside to a goofy footer and vice versa. You don't want to try on a backside hip if you are goofy footed.

  3. not much you can do at home to practice.

One of the best ways to learn is by trying it on a hip NOT A QP OR HP

If you are regular its easiest to try on a front side hip, and visa versa for goofy.

approach the corner of the hip slowly. Just fast enough to make it to the top. once you get to the corner flip your body backwards quickly and replace where your back foot is with your back hand. sorry. Its a hard concept to try explaining, but they are much easier to learn than most people think.
