I think you can only after hour trade in FOREX. Also it depends on what broker platform you use.

Many brokerage firms offer extended hours trading.  I currently use Firstrade ( http://www.firstrade.com/ ) and they offer extended hours trading from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM.  The other answers are wrong.  You don't have to be a high net worth or institutional investor. The average person can trade after hours as well.

Only Bankers, Mutual funds and securities institutes are allowed to trade after hours. Some people who are as rich and in the stock business. After hours trading is regulated by the SEC so you wouldn't get permission from them as a average person. You first need to have a seat on the exchange.
