How to do an avocado starter dish?

i want to make an avocado starter. I remember eating it like this. the avocado was scooped out and mixed with lemon,prawns,tomatoe ketchup and mayonaise. after mixing all the avocado the mixture was put back onto the scooped out avocado skins. Is this the correct way to mix the avocado?? And also, I can I prepare it now midday for this evening?? Please help

  1. Another way of doing it is to cut the avo in half and then remove the pip. Mix together the shrimps, mayo, tomatoe sauce and lemon juice and spoon into the area where the pip was - this way you still get the avo taste. i dont recommed doing it at midday because the avo tends to go brown. A way to stop this is to sprinkle it with lemon juice once cut. I suggest giving the avo with the shrimps in a good spinkly of lemon pepper - always adds a little extra flavour to it. another good idea which is cheaper is do it with some tinned tuna - I actually prefer it this way.Good luck and enjoy!


  2. Sounds yummy. I would chop up the avacado. And try to do it as close to when you will serve it so the avacado doesn't get brown.

  3. Hmm my fav of avocado have 2 dishes. First is avocado sushi..simple as it is..buy sushi rice and apple juice mixed when it done chopped avocado in a long cut put shrimp in...drop of salt and soja sauce make small sushi to make more appertizer.

    second I like making avocado cream blended avocado with cream cheese making paste on my crackers and chopped shirmps and onion on top with a bit of salt and pepper:)

Yes, sounds good.  Be sure to toss your avocado pieces in lemon juice so they don't turn dark.  You can assemble the shrimp and everything else now; I'd wait until just before serving to add any diced avocado to it.  Don't forget salt, pepper, a shot of Tabasco, maybe some minced cilantro, purple onions for color and texture,,,, also very good w/ lump crab meat.
