I want to do my bathroom floor. Currently I have carpet. I want to remove it and don't want any carpet again. What are my options (easiest to difficult)? Where can I find information on how to do it? I have never done it before. Thanks for your help.

  1. vinyl sheeting of a good grade is the way to go unless you can afford ceramic tile

  2. go with a vinyl floor ,  or tile.......just google " installing vinyl sheet flooring" ......

    lic. gen. contractor

  3. ugh i wish i could help i need help with this question as well only i don't have the choice to install myself and i want to know the cheapest way to go..so sorry

  4. plastic covers(fake tile), tile, hardwood floor, or marble

you can get info at a hardware store or a flooring store(they should sell books on it) usually they will tell you that you can get materials for free if you hire them to install it for you(but its just a rip off because the material is cheap and their work can vary at around $1000 and up

  5. Go with ceramic tile. There are plenty of nice but inexspensive tile. It also increase's the value of your home. I have never been in a home where they had vinyl and thought.

    'wow thats nice'

  6. If the floor is timber it is important you use something to waterproof the floor before putting any covering done.  With timber flooring, you can probably use villaboard or like (but must be waterproof) (from hardware store).  You need to level the floor also.  Not sure if you need a drain hole in floor which connects to pipes under the house (drain has small grate cover).  With floor tiles try and spend a bit extra to get the tiles with the colour right through, (ie vitrified tiles). With cheaper tiles the colour is sprayed on and when it chips, you notice it much more.

  7. Replace the carpet with Vinyl, The new vinyls are very different from those sold 5 years ago. The £16 Sqm + vinyls are of a high standard and replicate the genuine wood or tile, while being cheaper, slip resistant, water resistant (if sealed) and warmer. Although I'd definitely bring in a professional to install the vinyl. Installation will cost from £40 and the floor will look neat and tidy. Vinyl is the easiest and the cheapest option, and is more practical / safer than laminate to walk on in wet conditions. Ceramic looks good aswell, but is the more costlier, and colder alternative.

  8. Go to//// thisoldhouse.com web site. There should be some info, reguarding tiling a floor.
