Question:

How to do the spilts in a month?

I am trying out for my school dance team and i have made the team the last two years and by the middle i could almost do the splits but know i want to impress my dance teacher. So if any one has any good streches i have one stretch i do but i really want to do the spilts when im doing the spilts im about a 5 inches from touching ground. Any strech helps.

  1. Okay, this is what I did in gymnastics. Get a trampoline and  jump as high as possible. when you notice that you can jump with your feet stright under you about four feet from the trampoline, start making your legs go into a straight line in the air(horizantal/ parralel to ground) do this with every jump about 20 times in a row. make sure you  stretch first


  2. lay on your back and pull your leg straight towards you to stretch it out, leaving the other one straight on the ground (like you are doing your splits except on your back), then roll over on your side and keep on rolling into your splits, if that makes any sense. or start standing up and go 1/4 of the way into splits and then hold for an 8 count then slide to 1/2 way into your splits and hold for an 8 count, then slide 3/4 into them and hold for an 8 count then slide as far as you can into them and hold for 2 eight counts, and while sliding further down slide SLOW it works better. and also just sit in them while watching tv or especially after taking a shower because the muscles in your legs are nice and warm. i really hope this helps!

  3. 5 inches is a long way to get in a month! I wouldn't suggest trying to get that far in such a short time, or you might tear muscles/ligaments/tendons in the process...no matter how you stretch! Good luck but be careful or you won't be dancing for awhile!

  4. that's a long way to get in a month! you shouldn't concentrate on how far you can get down! concentrate on becoming more flexible and getting a good stretch n your splits. that is a stretch if you do it right! just keep your hips square and make sure you don't over stretch! keep at it every day!

  5. put your front foot on a step or something that will put you in a hyper extended position hold for 2 min and switch. if you do this  after a workout your muscles are warm and you'll see better results. Another strech is to lay on your back and have one leg straight on the ground(this leg would be your back leg when in the splits) then have a friend take your front leg and put you in a split. have her put pressure on you leg and push against her hand for 15 sec. repeat three times.

    Depending on your age, it could take anywhere from a year to a few short weeks.

    Being younger (under age 7) tends to mean you have better flexibility.

    My best advice would be to stretch every night after you take a shower (when your muscles are relaxed fully) and while you are watching tv.

    You will eventually get them if you don't give up.

    I know that it is stressful to work so hard and seem to have little result. KEEP WORKING AT IT AND DO NOT EVER GIVE UP!
