Question:

How to do things without feeling awkward?

Every time I do something with my friends...say..put on makeup, and I really like it, I feel like I have to wash it off before my dad or sister sees it. I always felt like this...almost like I have to hide things from them. I really want to start wearing makeup to school because it boosts my confidence, but I don't want to feel awkward or like I'm going to be in trouble for doing this.

  1. first of all, dont hide it.... if you want to wear it discuss it first. second of all how old are you? this has a huge factor in whether you are even old enough to wear makeup. but the number one thing is to just be honest

  2. If your dad is okay with you wearing makeup, keep it natural and you won't get into trouble.

Start with subtle changes (a little mascara, light lip gloss).

You won't feel awkward starting small and working you way up :D

  3. make sure you apply it well, badly applied makeup is a huge turnoff.

  4. I feel like that a lot too. This one time, I had put a whole lot of make up on and I looked FABULOUS, and as I was coming down the stairs to meet my dad, I had the weirdest sheepish feeling like I was gonna get punished for looking the way I looked. Don't worry, though, because as soon as I faced him about it he told me I looked beautiful, and eventually he accustomed to it and I grew out of feeling so sheepish all the time! Like, we both got used to it.

Good luck, and just face him about stuff! <3

  5. If you're over the age of 13, I think it's ok to wear a minimal amount of makeup.  I took my daughter to someone who specializes in makeup application when she turned 13 so she would know how to wear makeup the way it was meant to be worn - to enhance what you already have and hide your "imperfections."

However, if your dad has told you that he doesn't want you wearing makeup yet, then I think you need to honor his wishes.  If he hasn't told you that you can't wear makeup, why not try asking him how he'd feel about it, if you were to start wearing a little bit and if he says it'd be ok, then go for it!   :)
