How to do this to my 91 bmw?

Hey well I'll get right to it I own a 91 bmw 525i and I'm low on coolant and I don't know much bout cars so I'm not sure how to change the coolant, so how do I change it?

Get a repair manual, BMWs are not like working on any other kind of car.  You won't regret it.

Seriously don't change the coolant yourself without a special tool that vacuums out the air in the coolant system before you fill the car back up.It will overheat. You really need to evacuate the coolant system..

If you do decide to do it yourself and want to avoid vapor lock, which is trapped air in the system, after refilling the radiator with fresh coolant start the car and leave the hood open and radiator cap off.  Go back to the radiator and watch the fluid level.  It may rise slightly at first, then after a minute or two the thermostat will open and the fluid level will appear to drop and be circulating.  Allow this to go on for 5 or 10 seconds, shut off the car (the cap is still off), go back to the radiator and refill the fluid and reinstall the cap.  This will ensure all the lines are full and coolant is flowing through the system.

To drain it there is a small s***w in the bottom of the radiator that you take out, also remove the cap from the coolant tank. Once everything is drained reinstall the plastic s***w and fill the system. Keep in mind that coolant needs to be drained into a container and taken to a proper disposal site as its toxic and can not just be poured down the drain. If toy just need to top off the system just take off the cap and add water.

As always make sure the car has cooled before you loosen the cap so you do not burn yourself.

As the above person pointed out.   These cars need to have all the air purged from them if you touch the cooling system.

This is a job for a garage that "knows BMW's".

Here's the deal .... There are many plastic parts on the coolant systems on these cars.  The water empeller in the water pump is plastic for gosh sakes.

If this car overheats by springing a leak and you don't get it stopped in time they almost always blow a head gasket "IF YOU"RE LUCKY"

This will cost you more than the car is worth to fix.  Used engines with 100,000 miles or more on them sell for $3000 and you have to  have it put in on top of that.

Never mess with or take a chance with the coolant systems on these cars.
