  1. Take lessons.  It's faster and safer.

  2. it's harder than you think, I don't know where you live but some of the resorts in the Vail valley have rails and boxes that are right at the top of the snow, great to learn on. I've been skiing for about 5years, only a few times a season till these last few years.

Two weeks ago I was at Brekenridge and tried to do a box sideways, The metal edges came within an inch of my head when I wiped out.

I'm fairly good at jumps tho. I started by finding little bumps, kinda like moguls on hills that were all by themselves and just did little bunny hops off those, then when I got better I started hitting the big hills on the runs (rollers) really fast and getting air off those, then I got to the terrain park and hit the big ones.

Once you can ski backwards then you can do spin tricks, Twist your body to one side with both arms on that side, as soon as you hit the jump throw your arms and body around to the other side keeping your arms in.

The thing you have to know about tricks and rails and jumps is you have to go for it. If you don't hit the jump at full speed, or stick your neck out on a box to try and stay on, then you def. won't. You have to go all for it or don't try it at all.

be careful you can really **** yourself up on rails or jumps

  3. start small, try learning how to ski backwards first. Then progress to 180's, once u can do them on the flat without a jump then attempt a 360. Often sticking your leading arm out in the direction your rotating will help there. Follow your arm around with your head and your body will follow.

Failing that do what most skiers do and just incorporate crossing your skis in some manner.

I quite like Japan Airs where the left leg is kicked out to the side and the right leg is brought up below you. there your left arm grabs the tail of the ski nd you hold it. Before releasing for a controlled landing.

  4. uhh as for the right way to do stuff... theres not rilli a definite answer.

like the guy above me says, start with 180s on flats then learn how to do butter 180s and switch butter 180s

then go for the 360. once you've got the 360 down solid you're pretty much covered for learning the more advanced tricks.

Tips for a 360: use your arms and poles to help spin

look back in the direction you're spinning

once your in the air push rilli hard to swing your skis.

the landing you will have to judge for yourself on how hard to spin. so you land on 360 degrees. Finally start practicing on step-ups not kickers

    good luck
