  1. tRY YOUR BEST

  2. I'm a high school 1500m and 3000 m runner. When you begin the race, there are different strategies that you can use.

    1. Go fast for the first 2 laps and hope that no one catches you for the rest of the way...

    OR

    2. Stay with the pack, then gradually pick off the slackers (especially useful in the regional finals). This concept relies on moving up effectively. If you have plenty of energy in the last 300m, SPRINT.

In my races, I tend to use the first option because I have high endurance but it is totally up to you.

  3. Have you  run a 1500 before?  What kind of running have  you done in that past?

Just make sure you've  got some good shoes you're comfortable with.  Otherwise, just  pace yourself and finish strong.

  4. I have been running for 8 years now and would recommend the following:

I would strengthen the core: calves, quads, hams, back and abdominal (the "six pack" muscles along with the obleks), chest and arms. But when strengthening these muscles, I would focus more on the muscle endurance not the muscle bulk. For more advice for this, I would consult with a personal trainer. For the running part, I would stay flexible as it helps/contributes to your balance (so do the muscles in your core) but also helps prevent some injuries like pulled muscles and shin splints. Also, I would try to make up a schedule where you can run for X amount of days and try to have a long run. I would start off slowly, running about 2-3 miles per run for the first week and increase my mileage per week. Make sure you have the following: a good diet, hydration, sleep, a good sense on how to take care of your body, and sleep. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good Luck!!!

  5. As you will find out later you will see that the race will be affected all by the ammount of training done. Ther r many different types of training: try running 500m at your 1500 pace 5 times with a two minute interval in between each one. Also try running long distances like 5000m. Try keeping a healthy diet and have a rest before the race starts of a few days. During the race its important if you want to win to have a good race strategy.

Keep following the leaders of the race and using them as pace makers building up a reserve of energy to be used in the last 200-300m.

    Good luck for the race
