I like to make icons and I like some of the fonts on these font downloading websites that I don't have. I download it and then it just comes up in a folder. I want to actually use the fonts in programs like jasc animation shop 3. Do I have to install it or something? Idk what I'm doing.

  1. You have to actually install the fonts into Windows.  This is actually pretty easy.

Look for any files ending in TTF (or FOT) and copy them to c:\windows\fonts.  Done!

  2. You have to put it in your fonts folder. I usually do this by downloading the font file, then Start > Control Panel > Fonts. Click and drag your font file to the Fonts window, and it'll say "Installing..". Once that goes away it's installed. Restart Jasc and it'll be installed.

  3. The font must me installed into the Windows font folder before you can use it.  So download the font to your desktop, unzip it (if it is zipped), and then go to the font folder, (Computer/"C"/Windows/Fonts and click on the Font folder to open it.  Next click  File/Install new font.

  4. If you don't have winrar or similar then you can go to this place online to unzip them.

    http://wobzip.org/

Then when it's unzipped you could install the font to your Windows Font folder or you could simply double click the font to open it and minimize it to your desktop and then it will be available for use in Animation Shop.

    Hope this helps =)
