How to download my movies from my camcorder?

ok this is my end all question for my camcorder.. iv been having trouble with this same problem sense i got it.. so me and my friends have really been getting into mountain biking and i have some pretty sweet footage, but i cant fricken get them from the DVD-RW on to my computer to edit them!!!!!!!! my camera also has a chip port i could use if that is what im supposed to be using.. so any help would be great if i still cant figure it out after this im just gona get rid of it..

You should be able to pop the  small DVD disc in your computer and read the VOB files - than convert them in mpeg and edit. If your computer does not want to read the disc (nor play the movie) you might have an old DVD burner/player who does not recognize the format. There are TWO formats - DVD+RW and DVD-RW. Most (if not all) today's DVD burners can do both, but a few years old wouldn't do both,. only one. So if that's the case, the only solution is the get new DVD burner able read your disc.

You should be able to view the movie on your regular DVD player on tv unedited... which might be cheaper solution:-)

If you have a mini dvd camcorder….

You can't finalize the DVD-RW (rewritable) discs but you still need to convert the files.

with regular mini dvd-r and mini dvd+r you will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer 's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (i downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.
