Question:

How to drain water out of a portable air conditioner? PLEASE HELP!?

I recently purchased a portable air conditioner and it has a little hole on the back where the water comes out. It comes with a tiny little hose about 1 foot in length to drain the water but this makes no sense because it wont drain in an upwards position, and being as the hole is on the very bottom, the only way to point the hose is up and into a container. I am very confused how to get the water into a container if the hole is on the very bottom. I was thinking of buying a stool and putting it up on it in order to give the hole some height so I can put a container underneath but is there any other way?

  1. Don't buy a stool just for your a/c unit.

Put it on a hard chair or a file cabinet or something, and use the height to access/drain the unit using the hose.

The manufacturer probably thinks folks will carry the portable unit to the bathtub or kitchen sink to drain it, and putting the hole low in the unit means you can drain alllllll the water, rather than just "most" it... there's nothing nastier for breeding mold, mildew and all sorts of icky crud than warm, standing water.

    Hope this helps,

  2. This sounds more like a window ac unit and not an indoor portable one....
