How to draw people in different poses?

I draw manga but I can't not draw them in different poses. Can you help me.

  1. Get one of those little wooden bendy guys.  They are made for artists to pose and draw from.  Prolly could get one cheap at Michaels.


  2. People and most animals are usually just a bunch of ovals linked together in different places. Think of the ball of your foot as an oval, then just above and, say, to the right a bit, is your heel - another oval (more rounded). Then above the heel oval, you make a longer, larger oval to represent the calf muscle. A bit in front and above a small, round oval for the knee.  You get the picture? Just a bunch of ovals! Then link them all together with light lines and some shading.

  3. draw what you see. try to draw exactly what you see you have to focus & try.

  4. A good way to get people into different poses is to start with a gesture line - one line which curves all the way through the pose - and then build up the basic shapes along this line (like Hazel said - mostly just a bunch of ovals.)
