Do you use front wheel drive or rear wheels to drift (trying to settle an argument between my husband and his friend!) Thanks!

  1. Well you're gonna need all four to fully execute a drift. However, to do a proper drift, and not just a "I threw my civic sideways. I drifted yo!" you will need a rear wheel drive car.

  2. press the "A" button lol

  3. Rear wheel drive. You can do Front Wheel or All Wheel. But you have to be a very good driver and have a car setup just for the purpose of drifting

  4. front wheel drifts better with less power a propoting valve and the rear weight or lack of make it easier to slide the rear around

it is easy to do in a rwd car too but you need more power because the wheels that are sliding are the wheels that are moving the car also

but a fwd is a lot easier because you can use more break then with a rwd to get the angle that you want

but with a rear wheel drive (locked diff) and a propoting valve set for the front breaks only you can do a stand alone burnout/drift where you crank the wheels and hold the breaks until the car is at about a 220 degree angle / then release the breaks and turn the wheels forward the car will go for a good distance drifting  at the 220 angle until you let off once you let off you can tap the breaks(front only) while still full throttle this will whip the car the other direction and give a lot more angle something like 120 degrees \ then tap the breaks again to strighten out then stop

if done correctley you will lay out a 60 to 120 foot patch

but with fwd you can always do the old skateboard trick where you put something under the wheels/remove the wheels and install skis(it's a lot of fun)

basically a fwd is easier/cheaper to drift with but you can drift with almost anything given enough practice/skill

old abandoned parking lots/ someone's track work best please stay off the public roads

    goodluck
