  1. Why look at your feet look down the road at least 20 seconds ahead......

  2. First off, drive with shoes that you are comfortable in. Shoes that you are used to will allow for you to feel the pedals edges as you press on them. There are some cars I have driven though that do not allow much room between the pedals, so you need to be sure of where it is that you are pressing down. You do not want to mix up the gas for the brake and vice versa.

This is just one of the reasons why you need to be concentrating on what you are doing while you are driving. Stay away from cell phones, alcohol, loud music, and lots of talking while driving. Be careful and you will do just fine.

    Good Luck.

  3. I am assuming the case is that you have never driven a car yet...? Don't worry, even if you have never even sat in the drivers seat, the pedals kind of just come naturally. As long as you know off the top of your head that the gas is to the right and the brake is to the left, you'll do fine. Just kind of relax and be comfortable. As for touching the wrong pedal...I don't know anybody that hasn't. I did it while backing out of a parking space about a month after I had my license. I saw a car coming down the isle and instead of hitting the brakes, I accidently hit the gas. My best advice is to just relax and be comfortable.

  4. When i first drove in drivers ed at 16, i thought, "how will i be able to drive w/out looking at my feet?".  But after i started driving i realized that you are thinking about too much other stuff to even think about where your feet are.  Try to make yourself comfortable with where the gas & brake pedals are on your car, and within no time you wont even think about looking at your feet.

    hope this helps!

  5. put really, really ugly shoes on. Then you can't look at your feet.

  6. Easy boy,

Do several time  shadow driving before driveing , and  drive slowly until u 're  sure not   make mistake by pressing  accelerate  pedal  instead of brake pedal.

Avoid "high traffic"  until  your  feet reaction  completely  "fine"

    Daaaaaaah.

  7. Wear a flat soled shoe with supportive straps (no flip flops because they could slip out from under your foot).

Im assuming here that you are driving a vehicle with an "automatic" transmission.

If that's the case, then you place your right foot on the floor   back from, but between the brake pedal and the accelerator.

By keeping your heel on the floor and back a bit, you can then pivot on your heel and use just your toes in a squeezing motion on the brake or the accelerator.

Your left foot should be placed far to the left and up front, flat on the floorboards of your vehicle in case you have to make an emergency stop. By placing your left foot there you will be able to support yourself.

Practice moving your right foot (pivoting) from the brake to the gas pedal over and over again......repeating "brake", "gas" to yourself as you do this.

You can practice this while in the car or even  while sitting in a chair.

After a while, it will become an automatic response.

Remember too, if you aren't on the gas, you should probably be covering the brake.

Have fun learning this valuable life skill, and do make it a priority to develop safe skills and habits.

  8. PLEASE tell me you aren't two foot driving(unless you're driving a manual). That is VERY unsafe. In a panic situation you can press both pedals by mistake or worse press the WRONG pedal. I see no reason why you'd have to look at your feet. Your right foot(left if in UK I guess) should switch from brake to gas.
