  1. Noise in the city is a killer. I still drive long to getaway from it.

But sound absorbing things in the home and on the outside can help a bit. cloth padded tapistrys as art work on the walls. trees and a fence between you and the main sources etc.

Extra insulation pumped into all the walls by a pro, can help..even the interior walls. Dont discount the attic extra insulation helps two fold It cuts down on the power bill and it is a sound barrier.

  2. Honey believe it or not you will get used to it and sleep like a baby. When I was growing up we lived within a few feet on the trail road. The trains came through at all hours of the night and we were so used to it that we slept through it all.

  3. Try these Soft Foam Earplugs .

They are a life saver!!! I have to use them everynight to block out noise or I can't sleep.

Here is an example of the ones like I use:

You can get them at grocery, drug and wal-mart/ target type stores in the first aid section.

  4. Try some "white noise" like a fan or a/c, one of those waterfall things might help also.  There are more high tech machines that play music or sounds like rain, but I think that would keep me listening too much.  Ear plugs are also an idea.

  5. a fan or small water fall works good. i wear ear plugs and have a fan right beside  my bed ,i am a light sleeper and hear everything.the fan noise is constent puts me to sleep.in my boys room i have a fish tank with the sound from the pump and running water helps them sleep, plus fish are a stress reliver and help you to relaxe so you can sleep.put the tank light on a timer so they can see the fish swimming and it goes out after they are a sleep

  6. you will get used to it not much you can do about it except insulate your room better.

  7. play some music?
