I am making a yeti costume and I need to know if I can get a black gorilla suit and dye it white. Is this even possible? If so, how do I do it? Thanks!

  1. It may be hard to draw the coloring agent out of the fibers. You have to know what the material is made of, and what will release the agents.Best to special order a costume , or go as a big foot.

  2. Sorry to say but I really don't think it will be possible. The fur will be synthetic- in essence plastic. Typically, the dye is mixed in to the plastic before it's formed into the fur hairs. In other words, the dye's locked in. I don't think anything will remove it. Even if it did, there's a chance the fur wouldn't turn completely white.

Your best bets are making one or having someone make one for you. Worst comes to worst and you have your heart set on yeti, I guess spray paint it and hope for the best. Be warned that you will be a mass of fumes and crackling paint.

  3. Unfortunately, most "FURRy costumes" today like a

gorilla are made with synthetic fabrics and can't be dyed or

    bleached.

It is not going to work....Sorry...

You will just have to get some "white FURRY fabric" and

    START from scratch....
