  1. You doc should recommend a plan for you (a meal plan) to ease you back in.  Sorry to hear about your situation.

I can't recommend a definitive plan for 500 cals, but eat from the four food groups.  What about one piece of whole grain toast in the morning, some rice at noon, and salad and a piece of bread in the evening?

  2. Yeah, I agree with the person who said that your doctor would be your best advisor. But, since you're asking us on Yahoo!, I was thinking Ensure-type drinks because they are supposably packed with nutrition (and since they are liquid, they will help keep you hydrated). I knew a guy who had a broken jaw, and while his mouth was wired shut, he consumed those alone.

You might also want to try consuming those chocolate candies - I can't remember what they're called - but they're supposed to have a day's worth of calcium in them. You can find them in the Health and Beauty aisle at the grocery store. No doubt that your body is probably in desparate need of calcium, so one a day will help.

Sorry for your situation- one day at a time wins the race. Keep at it.

  3. i dunno, 500 calories sounds a little like starvation.

  4. eating that few of calories puts your body into a mode of starvation so it will take the food and turn it into fat; thus perserving the food for later because it knows getting food is a rare occasion.  Just don't eat animal products, sugar, gluten, or alcohol, and you will be fantastically healthy in mind, body, and spirit.  give it a try! the results will astound you!

  5. The first thing you have to remember is that food is fuel.  Next you have to take an active role in your recovery by educating yourself about nutrition.  It really isn't that difficult and everything you need to teach yourself you can find on the web.

Go here to find info on food/nutrition, there is also a subtitle regarding meals/recipes.  It's the Mayo Clinic.  I know it is difficult to think about eating a lot but if you are eating the right things you can put that many calories into your body without the meal actually looking like a lot of food.  You'd be amazed at what a healthy 250 calorie meal looks like.  Keep up the good work and stay on track.  Good Luck!

  6. The world health organization states that anything less than a 2000 calorie a day diet is a starvation diet.

You should probably see a Psychiatrist and fire your Doctor.

  7. As long as you are eating such a low amount of calories, try to eat foods that have large amounts of nutrition for the amount of calories.  Eat normal foods (meat/fruit/veggies/dairy products/carbs) and try to keep it balanced.  Also, since you probably still won't get enough vitamins/minerals from those foods, get a multivitamin.

  8. This is something that you should definitely work with your doctor on.

You may need to have some serious help to work your way up.

Otherwise, the only advice I can give is to at least take a multivitamin that will help you get enough vitamins.

Another idea is to find calorie rich food.  Find food that you won't have to eat as much to get your calories higher.

Definitely, work hand and hand with your doctor.

  9. I would be highly surprised if you dont know what its like to eat 200 cals a day.  You probably just want a low cal diet plan cuz you think it will make you lose weight faster.  If you really dont know what its like to eat that much you need to see a doctor.
