How to edit a Panasonic VDR 230 camera?

Hey. My friend and I were recording for a project and we don't know how to edit what we recorded. We tried to edit with another program, but it wouldn't work. I think it was because it is a new camera version. What program should we use to edit it?? Or what are our options??

DVDs (MPEG-2 format) aren't the best choice for editing, as I guess you've already discovered!  Most commercial editors can handle them though, so you've got a lot of options.
