How to either remove or block Internet Explorer?

Got a VERY funky little virus or something. It only effects IE7 and firefox is in no way effected so of course, i'm using Firefox. The only problem is that when I am surfing on Firefox, IE7 will open up based on what I'm looking at. So, is there a way to totally block or remove IE7 because of it's major security flaws?

Just some side notes: Dell Vostro 1000, running windows vista basic. I have administrator rights and privileges.

Just a little rant, either Microsoft better step everything they do up or they will become the second most used browser, behind firefox which in my opinion, is much better with security and speed. Also, the customization options are endless.

click start

then click run

type regedit

registration will open and you delete all the ies keys

Ok listen up if you still have the virus on your computer thats the reason why what you have to do is get better protection there are really good free once out there spy ware blaster and avg or you can try and use windows live one care safty scanner to remove it

you PROBABLY have messenger spam. stuff pops up and claims that if you will only download,yada,yada,yada. that's not the ? so what you need to do is open Firefox's options page ans set Firefox as Default browser.

open internet option [ I.E. ] and disable I.E. as default browser

Download Zone Alarm and when it asks whether you should allow or deny Internet Explorer then click on deny and that should stop it coming up automatically as the firewall blocks the application from opening after you set it to block it.

I would also suggest that if the virus is still affecting your computer then you run a system restore to the last known good configuration as i think your situation is the same as what happened to me quite recently.

Make Firefox your default browser

Go to Start> Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs, scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7 & click Remove
