  1. I'm not sure if you're in the US or not, but there are various local, state, and federal government agencies that do employ handicapped people. It is illegal to discriminate on that basis. Every blind person that I know locally has a state-provided job. The Veterans Administration makes some effort to help disabled veterans. But, people do fall through the cracks. Take a look at the streets of any city, and you will see disabled homeless people. I know other disabled people that make so little that they barely escape starvation. I don't have the actual statistics in the US on the employment/unemployment rates for disabled people.

India, on the other hand, has seen an increase in unemployment in the last few years among the disabled - it was something like a 5%age point drop to 37.6% employment rate between 1991 and 2002. For India, I would say, invest a bit into Braille education and get some of these people working in the call centers in the country. But, I'm working with a lot of unknowns - I probably sound ignorant here.

  2. Tough question from here--- my pal is in a wheelchair but I don't consider him handicapped, just in need of an attitude adjustment. He does work with his hands, makes the same money as me can still be a jerk, God love him. What do you mean how to employ them? Are they a problem for you?
