  1. I am wondering if this is already planted or if you are planning it. Terrariums are fun and you can be pretty creative with them. The first thing is to put a layer of charcoal and then some soil with a plant in it. Research the rights plants that thrive in a terrarium. I don't know about totally closed ones, because you mist them once in a while and if they seem too wet it is good to have a removable top to let them air out just a bit. The goal is to create the right amount of moisture and then they make their own rain. Lots of fun to put a favorite shell or rock in there. Mine had an old ceramic frog and an opalesant glass egg.I made one once that had a pathway made of aquarium rocks and a deer and a piece of mirror that looked like a little lake. They don't usually want the hottest spot, but good light is ok. Have fun.

  2. Terrariums are miniature ecosystems, the point is not to have your plants outgrowing their container.  But good old MiracleGro will encourage growth.
