I'm writing an essay on the book ' of mice and men' and I'm having trouble with it. Basically what we have to do is write is whether this is a good or bad book. I've spend the past page and a half rambling that it's good because the themes intertwine with each other. What a good ending sentence so that i can stop this?

  1. Of Mice and Men is a classic, and also one that I have never read.  However, there are numerous free on line resources that can help you with your study of this novel, most of which analyze the story, discuss themes and symbolism and other literary devices, and give character sketches.  If you do a search you will find many helpful resources.  Additionally hundreds of questions have been asked here on Y!A about Of Mice and Men so do a search for it in the Yahoo Answers search window and you will find lots of Q’s and A’s that should help you write your own sentence.

  2. If your teacher is like mine, they'll want something thought provoking that ties your entire essay together. Cliched sayings or anything like that (aka "Every cloud has a silver lining" or something corny like that) are NOT the way to go. "Of mice and men" is an easier to understand book than many. I'd go with what the people before me have said; there's  plenty of good stuff!

  3. Don't listen to the person who told you to recommend the book LOL.

You can never write in first person on an essay, otherwise you get docked major points! At least, in high school you do!

So anywhoo. I would suggest something along the lines of

"Of Mice and Men proves to have good, strong themes that are prominent throughout the book and overshadows any bad points."

Or something like that. Might want another word for bad points, I don't know if it's too informal...haha.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you might wanna put like, "Finally" or maybe even "Hence" if you wanna sound formal before writing your sentence.

  4. You'll need an ending paragraph. It's pretty much rephrasing the important things you wrote and putting a sentence in the end that sounds good.

One example would be "Of Mice and Men is a good book because it realistically depicted what the American Dream is to migrant workers in the 1930s, an illusion."

That's a bad example but you get the idea.

  5. In conclusion, I will never take in strangers ever again. jk

Talk about what you learned or something.

  6. say i would recomend this book to other people because it effected the way i feel about friendship and i think it would mean something to other people too.

  7. I wrote an essay on this and I'd love to read yours in order to help you better. If you want, you can email it to me at bestest_vee@yahoo.com
